چکیده

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are promoted as an alternative to conventional meet European decarbonisation and air quality targets. However, several studies have shown that gasoline PHEVs present similar criteria particulate emissions their counterparts. In the work, we investigate environmental performance of a modern plug-in Diesel-fuelled vehicle meeting Euro 6d standard under large variety driving patterns, ambient temperatures, battery states charge (SOC). Emissions regulated pollutants, currently unregulated CO2 were measured in laboratory following various on-road routes. The vehicle, whose range was 82 km, presented below 6 regulatory limits all different cycles performed at 23 °C tests SOC. lower than average Diesel tested JRC 2020–2021 for SOC tested, exception being solid particle number >23 nm (SPN23) comparable Moreover, obtained with high voltage fully charged during those minimum entire test (ca. 91 km) well urban section 36 km). Overall, NOx SPN23 increased showing very low there is no benefit terms from range. Finally, it N2O, only pollutant presenting relevant this which catalytic nature, proportional utilisation internal combustion engine. scope manuscript thus deepen knowledge on emission performances through systematic testing representative class wide conditions.

Secondary organic aerosol production from modern diesel engine emissions

Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) production was observed at significant levels in a series of modern diesel exhaust (DE) aging experiments conducted at the European Outdoor Photoreactor/Simulation Chamber (EUPHORE). The greatest production occurred in DE with toluene addition experiments (>40%), followed by DE with HCHO (for OH radical generation) experiments. A small amount of SOA (3%) was obse...

Emissions of Nitrogen Dioxide from Modern Diesel Vehicles

The traditional on-road emissions remote sensing technique has been enhanced with the ability to monitor not only CO, CO2, HC and NO, but also SO2, NH3 and NO2. Modern diesel powered vehicles, particularly in Japan and Europe are equipped with diesel particle filters (DPFs). These traps are frequently designed to be self regenerating by means of a prior catalytic oxidation of the exhaust NO to ...

Regulated and unregulated emissions from modern 2010 emissions-compliant heavy-duty on-highway diesel engines

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established strict regulations for highway diesel engine exhaust emissions of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) to aid in meeting the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. The emission standards were phased in with stringent standards for 2007 model year (MY) heavy-duty engines (HDEs), and even more stringent NOX standards for 201...

Life cycle assessment of greenhouse gas emissions from plug-in hybrid vehicles: implications for policy.

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), which use electricity from the grid to power a portion of travel, could play a role in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the transport sector. However, meaningful GHG emissions reductions with PHEVs are conditional on low-carbon electricity sources. We assess life cycle GHG emissions from PHEVs and find that they reduce GHG emissions by 32% c...
